Noble, Mark, 1754-1827. Manuscript, in a single hand, of a history of the Boleyn family, especially of Anne and Queen Elizabeth I, which includes not only "a critical examination of Holingshed's account of [Elizabeth's] imprisonment" but also footnoted commentary on the accuracy his other sources, including Thomas Wharton and John Strype; a ballad by Shenstone on Elizabeth I; and an account of Elizabeth's innocence in Wyatt's Rebellion. The work is prefaced by an explanation of the author's interest in the project and the authors he consulted in putting it together, including "Lord Orford's Royal and Noble Authors"; and is followed by an appendix, added in 1803, of extracts concerning Anne Boleyn and Queen Elizabeth from John Stow's Chronicle and John Strype's Ecclesiastical Memorials; and a ballad "alluding to a story recorded of The Princess Elizabeth" copied from Universal Magazine in 1764. The volume also contains a genealogical tree with engravings of King Henry VIII, Ann Boleyn, and Queen Elizabeth I pasted in; a pencil drawing of Hever Castle in Kent and a pen-and-wash drawing of Henry the 2nd's palace in Woodstock, both copied by Noble's son Mark; and engravings of Anne Boleyn and George Buchanan, laid in.

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a history which records the arrivals of foreign ambassadors to England between 1603 and 1623, quoting extensively from such historians as Camden, Stow, and Finet. The narrative is arranged in chronological order and provides anecdotes about the visitors' interactions with the court, including their social activities such as dinners and masks; gifts they gave and received; the behavior and order of precedence of the English nobility in the presence of the ambassadors; and the amounts of money James I spent on them. Of the visit of the French embassy in 1621, the author remarks on "French insolence" and comments, "We do things better now. We do not turn one of our legislative rooms, and one of our Courts of Law, into Banquetting ones. We do not receive at a vast expence, a retinue of foreigners, because the sovereign of France is just on the other side of the straits of Dover." The volume concludes with a critical summary of King James' character, and is prefaced by an introduction in which the author lists his sources and explains his methodology.

Manuscript commonplace book containing primarily extracts from historical works about England in the 16th and 17th centuries. Extracts are grouped somewhat thematically and topics range from methods of entering illegitimate children in parochial registers, to the history of hackney coaches, to anecdotes about Sir Robert Walpole, to bon mots of Charles II, among many, many others. Extracts appear to have been taken from published works such as Stow's and Holinshed's Chronicles as well as parliamentary proceedings and manuscript parish record books. The volume was probably composed in the late 1700s to early 1800s, as the latest date mentioned in the text is 1788.
