Central to this collection are four volumes containing information about American silversmiths and their marks. Part of this collection of papers and notes was probably begun by G.E. Farr and given to Willoughby Farr in 1916, as indicated in the first volume. Volumes 1, 2, and 3 are alphabetical listings of silversmiths. Entries indicate maker names, location, dates, maker marks, a description of the item the mark was taken from, and initials of owners of silver objects. Many of the marks are drawn; others are rubbed and pasted or laid in. Volume 4 bears the title page inscription "Some information being a short account of some American silversmiths not mentioned in any previously published work on the subject. By W. Farr." This typescript volume contains numerous references to obscure silversmiths. Entries range from one sentence to two pages, but contain no marks. Inclusions to this volume contain hand-written notes on Philadelphia silversmiths, including a list of apprentices indentured to master silversmiths. The following unbound items are part of the collection as well: a color drawing of an ornamented lock and key; a draft of an essay concerning collecting, appraisal, trade, and research of silver; an unbound manuscript notebook of notes on silversmiths made by G.E. Farr that includes some bibliographic citations; and a few small drawings and photographs of silver objects with captioned descriptions.

The Margaret Mitchell collection consists of the personal papers of author and journalist Margaret Mitchell and printed matter relating to her and to Gone With the Wind, both the book and the motion picture. The material, which dates from 1922-1991, includes approximately 100 letters written by Margaret Mitchell to friends and associates, including Harvey Smith, Julia Collier Harris, Julian Harris, Cary Wilmer, and Nelson Shipp. There are also photographs of Margaret Mitchell and an interview with Ralph McGill about Mitchell. The collection also includes musical adaptations of Gone With the Wind, audiovisual materials, printed material, and memorabilia relating to the motion picture.
