Title: Account book, 1751-1753.

The volume describes Oxnard's activities as an importer between May 1, 1751 and October 25, 1753. It opens with an inventory of ready money, goods, and debts belonging to him, exclusive of his house and home furnishings. Oxnard records possessing such merchandise as brass kettles, muslin, velvet, damask, bone lace, white lamb gloves, and other textile fabrics. Entries are detailed, often containing the name of the ship and captain that transported the goods as well as an itemized listing of those goods. Much of what was imported was purchased by retailers and craftsmen. Jeremiah Osborne was a frequent textile customer, while John Carnes purchased brass from him. Oxnard makes several references to voyages to London and Sterling exchanges. The manuscript provides documentation of the early importation of textiles and base metals, the coast-wise trade, and merchant/craftsman relationships.
