Eugene Ware Ridings (b. Jan. 9, 1899, Grant County, Okla.-d. Nov. 27, 1969), U.S. Army officer, was commissioned in the infantry from West Point in 1923. His early assignments included with the 15th Infantry in China and as an instructor at the U.S. Military Academy. During World War II, he served as assistant chief of staff for operations at VIII, then XIV Corps, and as assistant division commander, Americal Division. In the 1950s, he was assistant division commander, 9th Division and 31st Division; commanding general, 3rd Division in Korea; chief of the Military Assistance Advisory Group to Korea; deputy chief of staff of Army Field Forces; and deputy inspector general, U.S. Army. General Ridings retired in 1958.

Seq: group of Korean farm wives weeding in garden; Korean hills and cornfields in background. AS CU, Korean males assisting women in weeding operation. MS, lone Korean farmer with two oxen tilling field. MS, CU plough blade cutting into turf. Seq: Korean housewife washing laundry in stream. MS, US Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge emerging from helicopter in rice field. Honor Guard composed of the Greek Battalion lined up to greet Mr Lodge on arrival. LS, Greek battalion at salute as Mr Lodge proceeds to review the Honor Guard. Greeting Mr Lodge is Lt Gen Reuben E Jenkins, CG of the 9th US Corps. Present in group is Maj Gen Eugene W. Ridings. There are several scenes showing Mr Lodge conversing with officers and personnel of the Greek Exped Force in company with US officer personnel. MS, shows helicopter beginning to take off. EXT Seq: 8th Army US Embassy Compound. Mr Lodge is shown standing at attention as Honor Guard marches by. Seq: in compound shows President Syngman Rhee of Korea shaking hands with Mr John Foster Dulles, US Ambassador Ellis O. Briggs, Mrs Briggs and Mrs Rhee are in the group. CU, Gen Maxwell B. Taylor introducing President Rhee to members of the UN staff. Seq: at outdoor garden party shows several scenes of Gen Maxwell Taylor conversing with members of the UN staff. President Rhee and other high-ranking officers of South Korea and the UN can be seen for brief moments during these scenes.
