Manuscript on paper, in a single secretary hand, containing 12 speeches delivered in Parliament between November 1640 and May 1641, concerning such topics as the impeachment of Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford, and the issue of ship money. Speakers include John Pym, Lucius Cary, Sir Benjamin Rudyerd, Sir Edward Dering, Kildare Digby, Sir John Holland, Sir Harbottle Grimston, William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury, and King Charles I, who on February 3, 1640/1 explains his desire for lenience towards "the condemned priest Goodman." The speeches are preceded by a number of essays on Parliamentary practice and rules of operation, and are followed by five satirical political verses with titles such as "Uppon the Comittment of the Lord. Archbishop of Canterbury" and "God among good Scott."
