William E. Haughton is listed in the 1870 federal census as age 37, white male, born in Ohio, a farmer, living in Royalton (Fulton County, Ohio), married to Harriet E., age 36, white female, with daughters, Ida May, age 12, and Eva Dill (sp?), age 9, both white females. A farm laborer and his son lived with them. In 1880 William's birth state is listed as N.Y., Eva, age 19, and a son Willie D. (sp?), age 8, are included. In 1880 the family lived in Chesterfield (Fulton County, Ohio). By 1910, William was 78 and married to a new wife, also named Harriet, who was 64, born in England, with a step-daughter age 12, named Blanch H. Kellogg. Civil War Pension records show Harriet filed for him as an Invalid Veteran on Jan. 13, 1890 or 1898 and for herself as a widow on Sept. 13, 1906 or 1916 (The dates on the copy are hard to read). William served in the 130th Ohio Infantry Regiment, Company D, which was a 100 day unit of national guardsmen, composed of men from Lucas and Fulton counties.
