There is an astonishing volume of research here on hundreds of families, notably emigre families from Santo Domingo, families from Minorca (one of the Spanish Balearic Islands), families with Catholic roots, and families decended from Georgia's colonial settlers. His research encompassed collateral lines and families of other denominations, as well. Included are: detailed genealogical charts; correspondence; legal documents; Bible, church and public record abstracts; memoirs; articles and clippings; invitations; cards; photographs, etc. (cont.) The Bolan family papers consist of; a genealogical chart, a newspaper obituary of the Rev. J.B. Lawrence, and an extract from the United States Catholic Miscellany.

Century Company records

Title: Century Company records

The Century Company published the Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, which was widely regarded as the best general periodical of its time, performing a role as cultural arbiter during the 1880s and 1890s. It was founded in New York City in 1881 and also published the children's magazine St. Nicholas, dictionaries, and books. The Century Company records date from 1870 to the 1930s and chiefly contain correspondence with contributors, readers, public figures, and literary agents. A number of manuscripts and proofs in the collection are extensively edited and taken with annotations on letters provide a detailed record of the outlook, standards, and functions of the company.

Title: Rotch-Lawrence papers, 1820-1889.

Correspondence of the Rotch and Lawrence families, interrelated through the marriage of Annie B. Lawrence and Benjamin S. Rotch, including their courtship letters. The bulk of the Rotch family papers are letters between Benjamin and his grandfather William Rotch, Jr. of New Bedford, Mass. Lawrence family correspondence includes letters from Abbott Lawrence to his daughter Annie while he was a U.S. Representative from Mass.; and correspondence between Benjamin and Annie Rotch, and Abbott and his daughter Katherine "Kitty" Lawrence, while the Rotches were touring Europe and while Abbott was in London serving as U.S. ambassador to the Court of St. James between 1849-52, describing his work and their life and activities in London. Family letters during the mid-1840s also discuss Annie's health and her participation in hydrotherapy at Brattleboro, Vt. Additional correspondents include James Lawrence (Annie's brother), William J. Rotch (Benjamin's brother), and Charles Sumner.
