Includes a diagram of crop rotation for cotton, corn, oats, and rye; a map of the plantation; an inventory of plantation items; tax accounts; lists of slaves; clothes given to slaves; and food supplies. During the Civil War, entries become less comprehensive. For 1867-1872, entries list the date, employee's name, and item charged to the account, primarily food.

The collection consists of papers of Howell Cobb and the Cobb family from 1793-1932. The bulk of the collection (1839-1868) consists of correspondence between Howell Cobb, his wife, Mary Ann, and her brother, John B. Lamar. The letters discuss politics in both Georgia and the United States, the Confederate States of America including its formation and administration, and information on Cobb's business interests, especially plantation news. After Cobb's death (1868), the remainder of the correspondence is between other family members including John A. Cobb, Howell Cobb, Jr., Alexander Erwin, and Mary Erwin discussing family and social news, business interests, and legal cases. The collection also contains indentures and land grants (1793-1829) relating to Zachariah Lamar's business interests.
