Fourteen oral history interviews conducted by Young with candidates, party officials and campaign workers from Alabama's 1962 senatorial campaign between Democratic incumbent Lister Hill and Republican challenger James D. Martin. The interviews were used by Young in her thesis for her M.A. degree in history at Auburn University, "A Republican Challenge to Democratic Progressivism in the Deep South: Alabama's 1962 United States Senatorial Contest," (1978). Persons interviewed: John H. Buchanan, John G. Crommelin, Donald J. Cronin, Carl Elliott, Evan P. Foreman, Clifford R. Fulford, George M. Grant, John Grenier, James D.
