Title: Diaries, 1775-1776; 1782.

This collection consists of two diaries which were kept by Belcher Noyes. The 1775 diary is interleaved in An Astronomical Diary; Or An Almanack by Nathaniel Ames. Noyes included line-a-day entries of his activities and the weather, as well as his accounts, records of marriages, deaths, baptisms, and biblical topics from sermons. Interspersed thoughout these entries are records of Boston events leading to and following the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. In addition, Noyes included a passage describing his journey to escape Boston. He remained in Newburyport the rest of the war. The 1782 diary, interleaved in A Pocket Almanack, printed by T. & J. Fleet, contains records of the weather, marriages and deaths, and local events in Boston, to which he returned after the war.

Manuscript copies of deeds of Dr. Belcher Noyes, clerk and proprietor of the Pejepscot Company, Maine. Included are deeds, with Noyes's annotations, to lands of the Pejepscot Company (later the settlements of Brunswick, Topsham, and Harpswell, Maine) acquired from his father Oliver Noyes, as well as property in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Roanoke Island, N.C., bought and sold by Belcher Noyes. The volume also contains property inventories, including slaves; manuscript maps; and later copies in another hand.
