The collection contains the manuscripts of "Saga of blood and soil" a history of the Wise family and "Personal reflections and anecdotes of thirteen presidents." The collection contains a transcript of an 1895 May 2 letter from John S. Wise to Holmes Conrad explaining why he is a Republican, commenting favorably on John W. Daniel, and unfavorably on Charles T. O'Ferrell, Thomas S. Martin and John E. Massey. There is also a paragraph by [Jennings C. Wise?], n.d., on the history of the family home "Rolleston" in Princess Anne County. According to Wise John Mercer Brooke used the ice pond to experiment with models for the Virginia (Merrimac) and also that General Benjamin Butler turned the estate into a Freedman's School as an insult to Virginia governor Henry A. Wise. The collection also contains two copies of a set of three poems by Jennings Cropper Wise "Beware the brand of Cain," "Challenge to Communism," and "Plea for a new crusade"; a separate poem "Lee at the Peaks of Otter"; and a prospectus for "Mystery of Columbus."

Consists of three items, with thirteen pages total, in one legal-sized folder. The items included are a hand written letter from Charles T. O'Ferrall to Mayme Clarke Robinson, a typed transcript of this letter composed by Isabelle Robinson Reed, daughter of Mayme, and a photocopy of Mayme's application to the Walter Burdick chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, (DAR). The letter provides a genealogical history of the O'Ferrall family and its extensions, it is seven pages in length on four sheets of paper; the original pages three and four are missing. A handwritten surrogate for page three is provided. The typed transcript is also missing page four. The application to the DAR is four pages in length and provides genealogical information about the applicant dating back to her great-grandfather James Clarke who served as a Quartermaster under Captain Fox in the American Revolution, and a branch of Charles T. O'Ferrall's family..

Parker's work as attorney for Camp Manufacturing Co., Franklin, Va. and as local counsel for the Southern Co. treasurer and member of the General Conference's Board of Education of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South are prsent, The collection also contains a postal album, a nutrition notebook, bar exam coaching notes, a draft of the Franklin Academy Company's charter application and ledgers to insurance policies, guardianship accounts, estate settlements and stocks. The papers consist almost entirely of family correspondence and financial accounts. Speeches and addresses, recipe books, sketch books, poetry books, photographs, scrap books, newsclippings, religious newsletters and genealogical information are also included. Of special interest are an early autograph collection of Revolutionary War figures, a Bremo Recess plantation ledger, 1853-1870, kept by Arthur Lee Brent and a selection of Biblical texts and expositions on slavery. Topics discussed include immigration in the late 19th-century, the rebuilding of the Rotunda, the publication of the Bedford, Va. Index, and local Virginia politics and finances, but for the most part the letters detail life at Bremo Recess and various cities where family members located, particularly Washington D.C., Wilmington, Delaware, and St. John, Nova Scotia. Over three dozen members of the Brent, Cocke, Cabell, and Campbell families are represented by at least one letter.
