Duncan, Claude E. (Claude Edward), 1895-1971

Claude Edward Duncan (b. 1895, Boulder, Co.-d. Dec. 1, 1971), U.S. Air Force officer, began his military career in 1917 with the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe as an officer pilot in the Air Reserve. Later he served as a flying instructor and, after graduating from the Air Corps Tactical School, assumed command of the First Bomb Squadron. In January 1942 General Duncan was assigned to the Eighth Air Force in England and later that year commanded the XII Bomber Command in England and North Africa. He also served as assistant chief of staff of the XX Bomber Command in India and China. After World War II he rose to the position of vice commander of the Fourth Air Force.
