Biographical History

Grace Fordyce grew up in Southern California and received a teaching degree from Throop Polytechnic Institute in Pasadena, California before coming to Cornell in 1912. She received a B.S. in Home Economics in 1915. While at Cornell, Grace boarded with John Henry and Anna Botsford Comstock. In 1915, she married Daniel Scott Fox, who had graduated from Cornell in 1913 and served as an instructor from 1913-1916. He received a Ph.D. from Cornell in 1919. The family moved to Montana and then to State College, PA., before returning to California permanently in 1920. Dr. Fox went back to earn an M.D. degree from Stanford in 1930. Grace taught home economics in the Oakland city schools. They had two daughters, Dorothy Elizabeth (Betty) and Kathleen.
