Biographical History
Court taught and wrote about religious education for children and parent education. The latter developed out of her study, 1923-1930, of the family as a factor in religious education undertaken under the auspices of the General Sunday School Board of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Nashville, Tenn. She received a B.S. and M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University, returned to Nashville where she helped plan and conduct a comparative study of black and white mothers, wrote articles on parent and religious education, and taught parent education and Japanese culture at Lesley College, Cambridge, MA, 1945-1952. Court had been a teacher in Kobe, Japan, in the early years of her marriage to Reverend William Court; they had three children.
