Biographical History

Petitioners Vaughn and Sharane Fischer, members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, filed a petition on 30 June 1987 to adopt the five children, ages 5-19, of Brenda and Joseph Thornton (both deceased at the time of this case, though Brenda has recently become the second wife of Vaughn Fischer). The appeal was contested by Pat and Janet Johanson, Brenda's half-sisters.

From the description of Johanson vs. Fischer, Utah Supreme Court, 1988-1989. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 367797516
