Biographical History

In 2009, Elisabeth Hampton-Gray, a graduate of Lewis & Clark College, created a jacket documenting scenes from the history of Albany College and Lewis & Clark College. Hampton-Gray's father, Harry B. Hampton, was a Lewis & Clark College graduate of the class of 1943. This was time of transition for the College. In 1942, Albany College, moved its campus to the Fir Acres Estate in Soutwest Portland and changed its name to Lewis & Clark. The jacket created by Hampton-Grey documents this time and features cloth reproductions of newspaper clippings, college yearbooks, photographs, letters, and Harry Hampton's student identification cards. Elisabeth Hampton-Gray donated the jacket to Lewis & Clark College at her thirtieth reunion in 2009.
