Biographical History

Lorenzo Snow was born 3 April 1814 in Mantua, Ohio. After being baptized a member of the Church, he served a mission in Ohio and the Eastern States. He was ordained to the office of Seventy in 1840. He served as President of the United Order in Brigham City from 1874-1886. He was ordained an apostle in 1849, after which he served missions to England and Europe. He succeeded President Wilford Woodruff, becoming the fifth President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 13 September, 1898. He received a revelation regarding the law of tithing while on a trip to St. George, Utah, to preside over a conference there. He died 10 October 1901 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The notes were compiled by his son, LeRoi C. Snow (1876-1962) while he was serving as secretary to President Snow. LeRoi was born 26 August 1876 in Brigham City, Box Elder COunty, Utah.
