Biographical History
The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal organization of Civil War veterans. A post headquartered at West Third Avenue and Forrest Street in Conshohocken, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was organized in 1867. It was named after George Smith, the first borough resident to be killed during the Civil War.
