Biographical History

Raymond Holder Wheeler was born in Berlin, Massachusetts in 1892. He received his A.B. in 1912, his A.M. in 1913, and his Ph.D. in 1915, all from Clark University. Wheeler came to the University of Oregon in 1915. He then served in World War I, 1917-1919. He returned to the University of Oregon and was made full professor in 1920, serving as chairman of the Department of Psychology before coming to the University of Kansas in 1925.

Wheeler was a professor in the University of Kansas Department of Psychology (1925-1947). After leaving the University of Kansas, Wheeler became a Professor of Psychology and Philosophy at the Babson School of Business Administration in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts.

Wheeler was a well-known authority on climatology, especially for his research on weather cycles and their influence on human behavior and civilizations. He also published on the subject of Gestalt psychology. His publications include The Laws of Human Nature and Principles of Mental Development, which was co-authored with F.T. Perkins. Dr. Wheeler died in 1961.
