Son of the Reverend Luther Willson. Attended Harvard and Yale. Pastor at Salem, Massachusetts from 1859 to 1895. Believed that religion should not be taught in the public schools. Supported Horace Mann in the common school reform movement. Spoke out against slavery. Some of his sermons were published.
