Detroit, Michigan, clergyman.
Presbyterian minister with pastorates in Carlisle, Penn., Philadelphia, New York and Detroit.
Born at Strasburg, Penn. on July 4, 1794, George Duffield graduated from Pennsylvania University in 1810. He went on to study theology at the Presbyterian Seminary in New York and was licensed to preach in 1815. Rev. Duffield was a pastor in Carlisle, Pa. from 1815-1834; in Philadelphia from 1835-1836; and in New York City from 1836-1837. Coming to Detroit in 1837, Rev. Duffield was pastor of Detroit's First Presbyterian Church from 1837 until his death on June 24, 1868.
