Biographical History
The Drury Lane Theatre in London is the oldest English theater still in use.
The performances took place at the King's theatre, Haymarket and at the Lyceum between 1809 and 1812. Some of Benjamin Wyatt's plans for the rebuilding of the theatre (1812, 1814), and a plan for the Birmingham theatre, undated, are among these volumes.
The Theatre Royal in Drury Lane was built in London in 1663 on the site of an early 17th-century cockpit. The theater was later known as the Royal Theatre, Drury Lane, and then the Drury Lane Theatre.
