Biographical History
George William Warren was born in Albany, New York, on August 17, 1828. By the time he was 18, he was serving as the organist of St. Peter's Church, remaining until 1858, when he moved to St. Paul's Church, Albany. In 1860, he removed to Brooklyn, where he spent a decade as organist at the Church of the Holy Trinity. Between 1870 and 1900, he served as organist at St. Thomas' Church in New York. He was a frequent performer on the piano and organ, accompanist, and a composer of some merit. He died in New York on March 17, 1902. His son, Richard Henry Warren, was also well known in New York's musical circles.
