Just before the commencement of the war, Takahashi and an associate, Osawa, were prosecuted for selling oil tanks to the Japanese. Takahashi was also prosecuted by the IRS for nonpayment of taxes. While at Camp Minidoka, Takahashi attempted to continue to run his business and also served as a block commissioner and a Boy Scout leader. He was released from the camp at the end of the war.
