Kawano, Shigeichi

Biography

Shigeichi Kawano was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1891. He studied law in Tacoma, Washington. After moving to Los Angeles, California, he managed a hotel from 1916 to 1920 and in 1921 practiced law. As a Los Angeles community leader, he served as President of the Hiroshima Prefectural Association of Southern California in 1928 and was also as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Japanese Association of Los Angeles. He was interned at Heart Mountain, Wyoming, during World War II. He was married Tatsumi in 1920 and they had two children, Kazuko and Akira. He died in 1982.
