Biographical History
Everett Kassalow worked sporadically for the CIO from 1945 to 1950. He was born in New York. After receiving a bachelor's degree in social sciences from City College of New York, undertaking graduate studies at American University, and research for various U.S. government agencies, he became associate director of research for the CIO Department of Research and Education (1945-1947, 1949-1950), research director for the United Rubber Workers (1947-1949), and the executive secretary of the CIO Full Employment Committee and the CIO Committee on Economic Research (1949-1950). He then worked for the National Security Resources Board (1950-1953), the International Cooperation Administration to the American Embassy in Paris (1954-1957), and the United Auto Workers (1957-1958). In 1958, he joined the AFL-CIO's Industrial Union Department.
