Summary: Mario Braggiotti was born in Florence, Italy. He formed the first piano duo to play both classical and popular music on the same program and created over two hundred original transcriptions. Braggiotti also founded the Braggiotti Music School in Italy. He died in 1996.

Full History: Mario Braggiotti, a pianist, composer, lecturer and linguist, was born in Florence, Italy. Braggiotti studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, as well as the Paris Conservatoire de Musique, where he studied under Nadia Boulanger and Isidor Philipp. With a fellow student, Jacques Fray, Braggiotti formed a piano duo that went on to create a catalog of more than two hundred original transcriptions. The duo was the first to play both classical and popular music on the same program and was known internationally. Braggiotti also founded the Braggiotti Music School in Italy. He died in 1996.
