Biographical History
Henry Hull was a fuller and Quaker minister from Stanford, New York. Hull was born in 1765 to Tiddeman Hull and Elizabeth Franklin Hull of Purchase, New York but moved with family to Stanford at a young age and was educated at William Rickman's school in New York City. In 1785 he married Sarah Hallock, daughter of Edward and Phebe Hallock. Around the same time he became a minister in the Society of Friends. In this capacity he traveled extensively in the United States and Canada. In 1810 Hull set out on a religious visit to Great Britain and Ireland, from which he returned in 1812. During his absence an outbreak of disease killed his wife (who was also a minister), his mother, and his son. Hull remarried in 1814 to Sarah Cooper of New Jersey. He continued to travel in North America on religious visits. At the outbreak of the Hicksite-Orthodox schism Hull took the Orthodox side. In 1834 he traveled west to attend the Yearly Meetings of Ohio and Indiana. He attended most of the sessions of Ohio Yearly Meeting, under the pressure of much disease. Soon after its close, he was confined to his room. Hull died on the 23d of 9th Month, 1834.
