Biographical History
Jeremiah M. Dominy was the last miller at the South Haven Grist Mill, which had been in operation since at least the early 1700's. The mill closed in 1910 and was torn down in 1958.
Collecting area: History of the Bellport and Brookhaven areas, and Long Island in general.
The Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society, first organized as the Bellport-Fireplace Historical Society in 1958, took its present name in 1966. The "Brookhaven" of the name does not refer to the entire town of Brookhaven, but to the unincorporated hamlet of Brookhaven which is adjacent to the incorporated village of Bellport.
