Continental Congressman.
Donop, a Hessian mercenary fighting for the British in the Revolutionary War, was fatally wounded at the Battle of Red Bank and died 25 Oct. 1777.
Delegate from Pennsylvania to U.S. Continental Congress, army officer, New Jersey public official, and lawyer.
Adjutant-general in the Continental Army, president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, as member of Continental Congress signed Articles of Confederation.
Lawyer and Revolutionary soldier and statesman; born in Trenton, New Jersey, Reed relocated to Philadelphia in 1770, where he served as stateman in various capacities, including president of the 2nd Provincial Congress. Reed also served in the American Army as military secretary to General Washington and adjutant-general. Elected to Continental Congress in 1777 and held the office of president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, 1778-1781. Married Esther De Berdt.
