Biographical History

The Prevailing Wage Rate Commission was established by an act of the state legislature in 1969 to determine prevailing wages to be paid to employees on all state funded construction projects.

The Commission consisted of the Director of Labor of the State of Alabama, the Director of the Highway Department of the State of Alabama, the Finance Director of the State of Alabama, the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations of the State of Alabama, and the State Superintendent of Education of the State of Alabama.

The Alabama Dept. of Labor published and posted the results of the Commission's findings.

The Commission was abolished in 1980 by Act No. 79-122.
