Biographical History
David A. Levy (born December 18, 1953) is an American lawyer and politician. A member of the Republican Party, he notably served as the U.S. Representative from New York's 4th congressional district from 1993 to 1995.
Born in Johnson City, Indiana, he earned B.A. and J.D. degrees from Hofstra University. Levy worked as a lawyer, utility company executive, and member of the Hempstead Town Council from 1989 to 1993. He has also served in the News Departments of radio stations WGBB (Freeport, New York), WHN (New York), WINS (New York) and WKJY (Hempstead, New York).
In 1992, Levy succeeded retiring U.S. Representative Norman F. Lent in New York's 4th district. He again sought his party's nomination for the House in 1994, narrowly losing to the more conservative Dan Frisa. Running as the Conservative Party candidate in the general election, Levy received eight percent of the vote in the general election against Frisa and Democrat Philip Schiliro. He served as counsel to the town supervisor of Hempstead from 1995 to 2017.
