Biographical History
These are the records of the Rev. Ralph Van Loon, a member of the Lutheran Church in America's (LCA) Division for Parish Services (DPS). He was Secretary for Worship and Church Architecture in the DPS Department for Parish Support from 1975 through 1987. He also served as the LCA's Coordinator for Worship and led the Inter-Lutheran Commission for Worship (ILCW). See also TFOS Administrative History.
When the Inter-Lutheran Commission on Worship (ILCW) disbanded in 1978 with the publication of the Lutheran Book of Worship, the Coordinating Committee for Cooperative Projects in Congregational Life (CCCPCL) was created to continue working on unfinished ILCW projects. It was at a meeting of this committee that it was decided to develop an occasional service book based on the Lutheran Book of Worship.
