Biographical History

Susan Ellis Wild (born June 7, 1957) is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she has served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district since 2019. Between November 2018 and January 2019, Wild represented Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district.

Born Susan Ellis at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, West Germany, where her father was stationed, she was raised in France, California, New Mexico, and Washington D.C. She earned her B.A. from American University, Washington, D.C., 1978 and J.D. from George Washington University. After graduating, Wild worked as a lawyer in private practice. She became a partner at the law firm Gross McGinley in 1999. Wild ran for Lehigh County Commissioner in 2013, but lost. She was appointed the first female solicitor of Allentown, Pennsylvania in January 2015. On December 31, 2017, Wild resigned from office to pursue her candidacy for the United States House of Representatives to succeed retiring Representative Charlie Dent in 2018.

After Dent's resignation in May 2018, Wild ran simultaneously in the special election to succeed him in the 15th congressional district under its old boundaries and in the regular election for Pennsylvania's reconfigured 7th congressional district, winning both elections in November 2018. In Congress, Wild has been appointed to the House Education and Labor Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is committed to fighting for quality, affordable health care for all, an economy that benefits every member of our community, and reforming our political system to return government to the American people.
