Biographical History
Samuel White was a Quaker from the Delaware Valley who spent much of his life in southwestern New Jersey. He was born in 1742 near Fallsington, Pennsylvania, to Quaker minister Joseph White and his first wife Martha Lippincott White. Near the end of 1777 White moved across the Delaware River to Evesham in Burlington County, New Jersey. In 1784 he married Tabitha Reeve of Evesham. In 1793 Samuel, Tabitha, and their children moved to the vicinity of Horsham, Pennsylvania, but they returned to Evesham by the end of 1794. Sometime in the next two decades the family moved to the area of Mount Holly, New Jersey, and in 1811 they moved again to the area of Burlington, New Jersey, where White died in 1818. Over the course of his life he was a member of Falls, Evesham, Horsham, Mount Holly, and Burlington Monthly Meetings.
