Biographical History
Hugh Cowperthwaite was a Quaker from Burlington County, New Jersey. He was born the 13th of the 9th month 1744 to Thomas Cowperthwaite and his wife Mary Burden. In 1772 Cowperthwaite married Rebecca Roberts, daughter of Joshua and Rebecca Roberts; the couple had five children. He was a member of Evesham Monthly Meeting. Cowperthwaite died September 8, 1808.
