Biographical History
Hugh Cowperthwaite was a Quaker associated with Philadelphia Monthly Meeting and Evesham Monthly Meeting. He was born the 13th of the 9th month 1744, the son of Thomas Cowperthwaite, who was the son of John Cowperthwaite from Old England. In 1772 he married Rebekah Roberts, daughter of Joshua and Rebekah Roberts; they had five children named Thomas, Rebekah, Mary, Phebe, and Deborah. He died September 8, 1808.
