Biographical History
Florence Louise Harrison was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduating from Rogers Hall School, Lowell, Massachusetts, and in 1906, Smith College; she also took graduate courses in economics at Yale. She taught at several secondary schools and was for many years a political science professor at Connecticut College for Women. During World War I Harrison served as a director of Red Cross hospital service work in Bordeaux, France, and during World War II she chaired the Women's Division of the War Bond Drive for Connecticut. She was active in the League of Women Voters, including its Overseas Education Fund, and the Service Bureau for Women's Organizations. Harrison died in 1973 in West Sullivan, Maine, where she had lived during her retirement.
