Biographical History

Harry Hall White is known to the glass community as an early American glass collector and researcher. He was born in Romeo, Michigan, on June 24, 1883. He married Jessie Mae Jewitt in Ohio on March 17, 1916.

Little is known about White, who was employeed as an engineer. He pursued his hobby of glass research, particularly research on American glass bottles, with great passion. As an amateur historian and archaeologist, he published dozens of articles on American glass in The Magazine Antiques, as well as a 1928 pamphlet and set of plates titled A Photographic Guide for Bottle Collectors. White's research has held up over the years, and he remains well-regarded among American glass experts.

White died unexpectedly on April 14, 1944, while on a business trip.
