Biographical History
John M. Willits earned his A.B. in economics at Stanford in 1925; he was an instructor in psychology and marketing at Stanford prior to earning his Ph.D. in psychology in 1937.
The new main library at Stanford was designed by the San Francisco architectural firm of John Bakewell, Jr. and Arthur Brown, Jr.; is it now known as the Bing Wing of the Cecil H. Green Library.
The first accession books for the Stanford University Library, giving bibliographic information, source of each item, cost, and remarks. Volume four includes items from the library of Rudolf Hildebrand, scholar of Germanic philology and literature, acquired in 1894-95; and the gifts of Thomas W. Stanford, largely concerning Australia.
The Bender Room of the Stanford University Library, located on the top floor of the 1919 building (now the Bing Wing of the Cecil H. Green Library), was once the home of the rare book and manuscript divisions of the library.
