Camille Wolfgang Zeckwer, born 26 Jun 1875 in Philadelphia, Pa.; died 7 Aug 1924 in Southampton, NY.

An American-born composer, violinist, and conductor, Camille Zeckwer studied music first with his father, Richard Zeckwer (1850-1922), and later with Antonin Dvorák (1841-1904) in New York. In Berlin, he studied composition with Philipp Scharwenka (1847-1917) and violin with Florian Zajic. Zeckwer conducted Edwin Adler Fleisher's (1877-1959) pioneering Symphony Club in the early 1910s before taking over as director of the Philadelphia Academy of Music upon his father's retirement from that position in 1917.
