Joe Halby is white independent business owner who helped run his family's restaurant, Halby's Delicatessen, in Durham, N.C. Halby introduced live entertainment to the restaurant in the 1980s.
Joe Halby ran an independent sound reinforcement business and worked for his family's restaurant, Halby's Delicatessen, which was located in the Forest Hills Shopping Center in Durham, N.C.
Halby introduced live entertainment to the restaurant, mostly on the weekends. Terry Morehead, a mutual friend asked Halby if he would be willing to have Durham based blues musician, Thomas Burt (1900-1987), perform at the restaurant. The show went well and was repeated several times.
