From 1921 to 1930 a series of scientific expeditions in Central Asia was conducted by the Museum in conjunction with collaborating institutions and investigators.
The Third Central Asiatic Expedition, organized in 1921, was third in a series of expeditions led by Roy Chapman Andrews to Mongolia and China to study the geography and to collect specimens in the fields of geology, archaeology, paleontology, zoology, and botany.
