Jones was born in Amarillo, TX, Apr. 28, 1929; attended Pasadena Community Playhouse, Pasadena, CA (1950); she made her stage debut in the 1940s followed by her television debut in 1951; she gained popularity in the mid-1960s in the role of Morticia in The Addams family television series; she was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in The bachelor party (1957); her film credits include, Desiree (1954), The seven year itch (1955), The tender trap (1955), and Majorie Morningstar (1958); she died Aug. 3, 1983 in Hollywood, CA.
