Biographical History
Adolfo Carrion Jr. (born March 6, 1961) is an American businessman and former elected official from City Island, located in New York City, New York. In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Carrion to be his Deputy Assistant and first Director of the White House Office of Urban Affairs. In 2010, Carrion was confirmed by the United States Senate as Regional Administrator of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for Region II. He also served as HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan’s Advisor on Intergovernmental Relations.
Prior to his tenure in the federal government, Carrion served two terms as Bronx Borough President and one term as the President of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). Before his service as Bronx Borough President, Carrion represented the 14th City Council District on the New York City Council and also served as an urban planner at the NYC Department of City Planning and a teacher in the New York City Public Schools.
After completing his posts in government service, Adolfo founded Metro Futures, LLC, a consulting and real estate development firm in 2012. Carrion received his bachelors in World Religions and Philosophy from King’s College and his Masters in Urban Planning from Hunter College.
