"Feel Like Going Home: Musicians in Print, on Film, and in Concert" was a two-day event sponsored by the Getty Research Institute, focused on examining the biographies of musicians on film and in print. It included panels with biographers and filmmakers, a film screenings, and a concert featuring David Johansen and the Harry Smiths.

Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass appeared in conversation with Wim de Wit of the Getty Research Institute's Special Collections, at the Getty Center March 14, 2006. Sottsass was the subject of a 2006 exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and joined de Wit to discuss his design philosophy and work as well as his opinion about the current state of the design field.

The Getty Research Institute held the Movement and the Visual Arts conference June 2, 2006. This one-day conference explored the creative intersection between the visual arts, dance and other performance forms. In addition to lectures and discussions throughout the day, the conference also featured performances from the LA Art Girls collective.

"Sound and Space in the Rothko Chapel" was a lecture and performance event held at the Getty Center on March 23, 2005. The lecture by Thomas Crow examined the relationship and diaglogue between Mark Rothko and other Abstract Expressionist painters and composer Morton Feldman. Following Crow's lecture was a performance of Feldman's compositions - "Rothko Chapel," "de Kooning," "The Viola in My Life 2" and "I Met Heine on the Rue Furstenberg" - by the Nimbus Ensemble.

"Structures and Systems: Minimal Art in the United States" was a scholarly conference held at the Getty Center on May 1, 2004, in conjunction with the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles) exhibition "A Minimal Future? Art as Object, 1958-1968." This event featured both public presentations by artists and scholars as well as an evening panel discussion among art professionals of the era. An associated dance performance by Simone Forti and Yvonne Rainer on May 8 and 9, 2004 was also recorded as a part of the proceedings.

"An Intercontinental Art World," part two of "Structures and Systems," was held at the Getty Center, October 2, 2004 in conjunction with the exhibition "Beyond Geometry: Experiments in Form, 1940s-1970" at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). This event featured an international roster of scholars, artists and museum professionals examining the complex connections between the experimental art produced in Europe and in the Americas during the 1960s and 1970s.

Surveying the Border, a video presentation and panel discussion concerned with the relation between the United States and Mexico as seen through video art, was held at the Getty Center September 29, 2005. A 90-minute screening of some of the best short video works that take the US-Mexico relation and its border as their subject was followed by a panel discussion between artists and curators.

"The Architecture of Other Spaces" and "Celluloid Structures" were events co-sponsored by the San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) and the Getty Center dedicated to exploring the work of conceptual artist Gordon Matta-Clark and his father, Surrealist Roberto Matta. "The Architecture of Other Spaces," a scholarly symposium, was held at the SDMA, October 7, 2006 and "Celluloid Structures," a film screening program and discussion, was held at the Getty Center, November 1, 2006.

"An Evening of Short Performances" was an event sponsored by and held at the Getty Center, June 3, 2006. It featured short works and performances by a renowned group of dancers and performance artists. This related to the Movement and Visual Arts conference held at the Getty Center, June 2, 2006.

"Minimalist Jukebox: From Intonation to Collaboration" was an event held March 31-April 1, 2006 and co-sponsored by the Getty Research Institute and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Focused on examining the acoustical and durational side of Minimalism in music, the event included a scholarly conference, a roundtable discussion, and performances at both the Getty Center and at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Featuring some of the leading scholars and artists associated with Minimalism, other performances related to this event were held at the Disney Concert Hall throughout the month of March 2006.
