Biographical History

Dorothy Repiton Knox (b. January 31, 1896), a native of Charlotte, N.C., worked as a Red Cross volunteer during World War I. She aided servicemen at the Southern Railway Station as well as destitute families in the poorest sections of Charlotte and surrounding mill villages. A member of the Charlotte Junior League, she published numerous articles locally and in the national Junior League publication. She penned regular columns for the "Charlotte News" and the "Charlotte Observer" between 1933 and 1974.
