Biographical History
Paolo Salvati (b. February 22, 1939, Rome, Italy-d. June 24, 2014, Rome, Italy), Italian expressionist painter.
Artist among the twentieth century Italian Masters, exponent of expressionist painting, portraitist, miniaturist, luthier and restorer of gold and silver wood leaf frames.
He devoted his life to art and adopted a severe style firmly anchored to traditional values but his works show an unique style as well. He was deeply inspired by artists like Lorrain, Poussin, Turner, Lautrec, Monet, Van Gogh, Munch while maintaining his artist’s sensitivity and being present in his own time.
Through colour he found the lyric redemption from rationalistic and scientific intrusion; free from academic formalisms he painted invented subjects, he created the different series of works: Pietra Blu (Blue Stone) since 1973, Sogni di Primavera e d’Estate (Spring and Summer Dreams) since 1974, Alberi Blu (Blue Trees) from 1973 to 2011, Fronde Rosse (Red Fronds) from 1993 to 2002 and Unica (Unique) in 2010.
He was recognized Illustrious Citizen in 2005 for artistic merits, decorated Knight O.M.R.I. in 2012, Knight of Merit S.M.O.C.S.J. (branch of Spain) post mortem in 2016.
