Martha Dandridge Custis Washington (b. June 2, 1731, Chestnut Grove, Virginia-d. May 22, 1802, Mount Vernon, Virginia) was the wife of George Washington, first president of the United States.
She was born and raised at Chestnut Grove Plantation in New Kent County, Virginia. She was the eldest of eight children born to John Dandridge (1700-1756).
In 1750, she was married to Daniel Parke Custis, with whom she had four children: Daniel Custis (1751–1754), Frances Custis (1753–1757), John "Jacky" Parke Custis (1754–1781), and Martha "Patsy" Parke Custis (1756–1773). Daniel Custis died in 1757. She married George Washington on January 6, 1759.
