Nelson Reed was a businessman, civic leader and philanthropist in the Klamath Basin of Oregon and California. He was appointed chairman of the Oregon Klamath River Commission, the legislative study group that developed the Klamath River Compact with the California Klamath River Commission in 1957. Nelson Reed was born on June 21, 1895 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died on November 11, 1970 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He is also recognized as the chairman of the Examining Board for the opening of Tulelake, California homesteading land in 1947 and 1948 and the author of the books Tales of the Klamath Country, Tule Smoke and Stories of Let’s Pretend .

Nell Kuonen (born November 10, 1928) is a businesswoman, former Klamath County, Oregon Commissioner and philanthropist. She was appointed the Federal Representative on the Klamath River Compact Commission in 1983 and served as chairperson of the group.
